Leon Filger was born in the mid-eighties, right around the time that a-ha’s rubbish song “Take on Me” was occupying the number one spot on the pop charts. This song now occupies the number 27 spot on his iPod playlist.
Leon is currently employed by the Alberta Health Authority, where he spends his days learning interesting things from centenarians, all while helping them put on their socks. His activist activities are currently dominated by passions for patient advocacy in long-term care, Numbered Treaties awareness education, improving access to abortion services, and youth political engagement. As a Secular Humanist, Leon rejects the supernatural and religious dogma as a basis for morality and decision-making.
In his fleeting spare time, Leon can be found building and launching model rockets, playing ping-pong [although not very well], and singing karaoke. Although nothing by a-ha. He also has fun hiking, camping, reading, peeing in the shower. chilling in hippy drum-circles, vegan cooking, using the Oxford comma, and contributing to the Occultae Veritatis Podcast. He enjoys the number 42, and wearing Toms shoes. Leon also holds the title of President and CEO of the Eastern Sudanese Bicycle Factory, but it's mostly ceremonial.
Leon presently resides in Weytaskawin, Alberta with his partner, [REDACTED], and their two guinea pigs.
